Three Cent Silver
1862/1 3CS FS-301 MS67 PCGS. CAC. The overdate is not overly scarce, yet in high grades it is significantly scarcer than the normal date 1862 issue in the highest Mint State grades. Specialists often opt for both varieties to complete a set since the 1862/1 is a Guide Book listing. Attractive "target" toning covers both sides of this attractively patinated Superb Gem, where steel-blue shades at the margins surround brownish-gold hues. The fields are partially reflective beneath the toning. The design elements are sharply struck, including the shield lines, the outlines to the obverse star, and the reverse star centers, although the leaves on the left part of the olive branch are weak. Population: 17 in 67 (1 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 6 in 67, 0 finer (1/17).
