Proof Liberty Nickels
1905 5C PR68 NGC. The 1905 is one of several proof Liberty nickel issues for which Cameo specimens are inherently rare. In the absence of Cameo coins, low-contrast but high-appeal pieces such as this PR68 survivor emerge as the most desirable representatives of the issue. Bold color is the signature aspect of this profoundly mirrored piece, which has canary-yellow, orange, and lavender-blue outer hues that fade into lighter centers, pale yellow on the obverse and a slightly deeper nickel-blue on the impressively preserved reverse.
