1914-S 5C MS66+ PCGS. CAC. Icy-blue centers are flanked by wheat-gold toning at the margins of this fully struck and lustrous 1914-S nickel. Powerful satin luster glows across the smooth and attractive surfaces. More than 3.4 million pieces were struck -- a large mintage in the early years of the series -- yet few pieces are as well-produced and carefully preserved as this example. The surfaces are entirely problem-free and high-end even at the Premium Gem level.
In particular, the PCGS Plus designation and CAC endorsement are important add-ons to the MS66 grade. Just two numerically finer pieces exist at PCGS. We seldom see one finer, nor do the grading services. Population: 39 in 66 (6 in 66+), 2 finer. CAC: 18 in 66, 0 finer (1/17).
