Seated Half Dimes
1842-O H10C MS65 PCGS. The 1842-O is a better date in all grades but really becomes scarce in the upper circulated levels. In Mint State, this New Orleans half dime is a genuine rarity regardless of grade. A few coins reported in MS66 are the finest, but this Gem example is nonetheless firmly within the Condition Census. Observing the frosty, golden-orange surfaces under a glass fails to reveal a single notable imperfection in the preservation, although considerable strike weakness is seen on Liberty's head and the lower portion of the wreath, as usual. The coin glows beneath a light, and the overall appeal is excellent. Population: 4 in 65, 2 finer (1/17).
