Proof Barber Dimes
1898 10C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. PCGS has certified a total of six PR68 1898 dimes across all contrast categories with no coins numerically finer; of them, one non-Cameo, three Cameo, and two Deep Cameo (1/17). The obverse contrast is unmistakable, thanks to intense frost over the portrait and a decent berth of silver mirror before green-gold and orange hues take over at the margins. The border-toning is wider on the reverse with an added outermost element, cornflower-blue, but its contrast is considerable as well. This date is a popular one with type collectors across all denominations; the general consensus being that 1898 was generally the best-produced of all years for 19th century proofs.
