Standing Liberty Quarters
1929-D 25C MS67 Full Head NGC. For most collectors, the 1929-D Standing Liberty quarter cannot be obtained above MS66 Full Head. The present coin is the only Superb Gem certified with Full Head detail (1/17), and it is here making its first appearance at auction. Even in MS66 Full Head, the 1929-D is conditionally rare -- we have offered such a piece on only 18 occasions in more than two decades, including multiple reappearances of the same few coins. We are excited to see this finest-known representative cross the auction block, as the 1929-D has in recent years received much recognition as a semikey in high-grade Full Head. The head and shield rivets are bold, and the eagle is well-defined. The only notable weakness occurs on the bottom two obverse stars, which is only observed beneath a loupe. This piece displays frosty luster and unabraded surfaces with a delicate champagne hue over each side.
