Bust Half Dollars
1810 50C -- Off-Center, 'Partial Collar Strike' -- O-101a, R.1, AU58 PCGS. This is an attractive, near-Mint State early Bust half error. The coin is struck 5% off center toward 10:30. Only partial edge lettering (some of it barely indiscernible) remains -- presumably, executed prior to the strike. In our opinion, this coin is more of an off-center strike than a partial collar strike. Dentilation is absent between 9 and 1 o'clock on the obverse, and 5 and 8 o'clock on the reverse. Extensive die cracks across both borders allow prompt attribution as the O-101a variety. A mostly lustrous and pleasing piece with exceptional peripheral golden-brown and forest-green toning.
