1819/8 50C Small 9, O-101, R.1, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Golden-brown, cobalt-blue, and ruby-red toning visits both peripheries. Well-struck with nearly unmarked and frosted silver-gray interiors, this near-Gem radiates cartwheel mint luster. The Autumn 2016 Herrman revision lists the current coin at the top of the Census for O-101 by virtue of its Plus designation plus CAC endorsement. Struck from an intermediate and undesignated die state without a crack through 0 C, the arrowheads, and the ICA in AMERICA. A crack is present across UNITED ST, the leaftips, and 50. The diagnostic Small 9 and clear underlying bottom portion of an 8 confirm the obverse overdate.
