Seated Half Dollars
1859-S 50C Large S, WB-101, Die Pair 3, R.3, MS64 PCGS. An errant 9 appears in the base above the 9 in the date, and a die lump occurs on the 1. Die cracks travel through the reverse legends. The 1859-S Seated half dollar circulated extensively on the West Coast, and CoinFacts estimates only 50 coins survive in Mint State. Each side of this near-Gem is frosty and brilliant with the faintest glints of gold here and there. Liberty's head and the eagle are fully detailed. Preservation is excellent. Population: 18 in 64 (1 in 64+), 7 finer (12/16).
