Seated Half Dollars
1862 50C WB-101 MS65 NGC. Golden-brown and apple-green colors grace the obverse margins and encroach upon the untoned center. The reverse features iridescent rose color framed by peach and sky-blue hues. This is an exquisitely struck 1862 half dollar with mint-made vertical striations that lend a mildly prooflike appearance. Scattered tiny marks deny a higher grade. A low mintage for a Philadelphia issue, only 253,550 pieces were produced. Census: 4 in 65, 5 finer (12/16).
Ex: Palm Beach Signature (Heritage, 11/2004), lot 7436.
