Seated Half Dollars
1870-CC 50C WB-101, Die Pair 5, R.6, VF30 NGC. The Bugert reference estimates as few as 200 coins survive from the mintage of 54,617 pieces, making the 1870-CC the key Carson City issue as well as an absolute rarity in the Seated half series. This is a solid midgrade example with all letters of LIBERTY sharp on the shield. Silver-gray surfaces deepen at the margins. A number of small marks and digs are visible under a loupe, yet the coin is attractive in-hand and bold for the grade. Census (all varieties): 2 in 30, 28 finer (1/17).
