Seated Half Dollars
1876-S 50C Open Bud, Very Small S, WB-102, Die Pair 28, R.3, MS66 NGC. The 1876-S Seated Liberty half dollar claims a large mintage of 4.5 million pieces, but few were saved for numismatic purposes and examples in MS66 condition are almost unobtainable today. This spectacular Premium Gem is sharply detailed in most areas, but shows just a touch of the diagnostic weakness on the eagle's tail feathers, below the shield. A few stars exhibit a touch of flatness, as well. The well-preserved, lustrous surfaces are enhanced by vivid shades of golden-brown and cerulean-blue toning, with most of the color on the obverse. Census: 3 in 66, 1 finer (1/17).
