GSA Dollars
1879-CC $1 GSA MS62 NGC. VAM-4. The 1879-CC is by far the scarcest Carson City Morgan dollar issue struck prior to the first cessation of coinage in 1885. Most of the issue was apparently released into Old West commerce, unlike the 1880-CC through 1885-CC, which were generally saved in Treasury vaults. Uncirculated GSA 1879-CC dollars are particularly in demand. This lustrous example exhibits lightly dappled peach-gold toning on the reverse. The strike is good and the fields are smooth. The grade is determined by a moderate diagonal mark on the cheek.
