Morgan Dollars
1889-CC $1 AU58 ANACS. Silver dollar coinage at the Carson City Mint in 1889 was not commenced until October, with a minimal 350,000 pieces struck by the end of the calendar year. As the first silver dollars produced at the Nevada facility since 1885, many were released into circulation before the turn of the century. Occasional Mint State pieces emerged from the Treasury decades later, but no significant quantities were dispersed. Today, Uncirculated examples are scarce, and high-end AU pieces enjoy strong collector demand.
This near-Mint coin displays a bold strike with only slight high-point friction. Some semiprooflike mirroring appears in the fields. Both sides have light golden toning, and a read mark on Liberty's cheek is the only mentionable abrasion.
