Morgan Dollars
1893-CC $1 MS64+ NGC. The Treasury released quantities of the 1893-CC dollar over the course of a few decades from the 1920s to the 1960s. However, these were primarily bagmarked coins. The GSA sales of the early 1970s included only a single example of the date, making the scarcity of this issue in high grade an unchangeable road block for collectors. Today, Gems are rare, and high-end Choice coins are in demand. The present piece is one of only seven Plus-graded near-Gems at NGC, with eight finer representatives reported (12/16). The surfaces display frosty, mint-fresh luster cast in warm golden toning that deepens to lavender, amber, and blue around the peripheries. There are no severe abrasions, leaving the coin quite attractive.
