Proof Morgan Dollars
1879 $1 PR65 Cameo NGC. The 1879 proof Morgan is scarce in Cameo grades, particularly at the Gem grade level. This issue was not as well-made as some later proof Morgans, and attractive coins with good contrast are elusive. The present coin is a rare find -- a starkly contrasted Gem with warm golden toning that blankets each side. Daubs of lavender and blue also appear around the borders. The strike is sharp, and eye appeal is excellent. Census: 9 in 65 Cameo, 38 finer (1/17).
