Liberty Quarter Eagles
1852-O $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS. Variety 2. Two varieties are known for the 1852-O quarter eagle (140,000 coins struck). This is the usual die pair with the O positioned further left. It is believed the mintmark was engraved by hand into the working die. The 1852-O is very rare in Mint State with fewer than a dozen coins known. Brightly lustrous with light yellow-gold coloration, this MS62 survivor features pinpoint detail on the stars and curls. Detail is marginally softer on the reverse. A lightly abraded Southern gold rarity. Population: 6 in 62, 1 finer (1/17).
