Indian Quarter Eagles
1912 $2 1/2 MS65+ PCGS. Despite the reported mintage of 616,000 pieces, the 1912 Indian quarter eagle is surprisingly difficult to locate in high grade and experts consider it one of the most underrated issues of the series. Most examples seen grade no better than MS64, with lackluster surfaces that often show excessive abrasions and occasional alloy spots.
The present coin is a spectacular Plus-graded Gem, with sharply detailed design elements and vibrant, satiny mint luster on both sides. The attractive orange and rose-gold surfaces show only insignificant signs of contact, and overall visual appeal is outstanding. Population: 80 in 65 (1 in 65+), 5 finer (1/17).
