1803/2 $5 BD-1, R.4, AU53 PCGS. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/c. An attractive AU53 specimen of this popular overdate variety, with the star nearest the beak pointing to the upper beak tip and free of the ribbon. The BD-1 has a surviving population of 150-200 examples in all grades. This well-detailed survivor is lightly worn and lightly abraded, with an extensive network of die cracks on the reverse and no sign of planchet adjustment marks.
