Liberty Half Eagles
1867 $5 AU55+ NGC. CAC. Aside from the 1861 issue, half eagles were struck only in nominal quantities at the Philadelphia Mint throughout the 1860s. Just 6,870 P-Mint pieces were struck in 1867. This Choice About Uncirculated example is one of the few graded at the AU55 level or finer by NGC. Reddish-gold accents surround the devices of this olive-gold coin. Numerous small marks and abrasions dot the surfaces, but no deep or heavy contacts are seen. Fewer than 100 1867 half eagles are believed extant. Census: 8 in 55 (1 in 55+), 5 finer. CAC: 1 in 55, 1 finer (12/16).
