1855-S $20 AU58 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. Small S, or Medium S. This sharp near-Mint 1855-S double eagle displays bright, frosty yellow-gold mint luster with an expected scattering of minor abrasions. Other than a trace of friction on Liberty's cheek, the coin appears Mint State. Finer examples are scarce, despite shipwreck recoveries.
