1857-S $20 MS65 PCGS. Variety 20B. Ex: S.S. Central America. SSCA 1682. The gold label PCGS holder is designated as "20A Spiked Shield" but the die variety is the Bold S Variety 20B. The 18 in the date is lightly repunched south, a feature seldom mentioned since Robert Evan's research focused on reverse die attributes. A lustrous peach-gold Gem with unabraded fields and only delicate contact on the cheek. An unobtrusive blush of mauve toning is noted on the lower right reverse. Accompanying the lot is a certificate of authenticity signed by the presently imprisoned Tommy Thompson, an olive-green box imprinted David Hall's North American Trading, and a faux book.
