Liberty Double Eagles
1860 $20 MS62 PCGS Secure. Uncirculated examples of the 1860 double eagle are rare compared to the population of similarly graded 1861 coins. Most such pieces reside in MS60 or MS61, with the present MS62 coin being above average in quality. The strike is boldly executed, and frosty orange-gold luster delivers excellent visual appeal. A few light marks on the obverse determine the grade but are minor compared to what is often seen on lower-grade Mint State pieces. Any Type One double eagle in MS62 is a scarce coin, and finer representatives are rarely offered. Population: 12 in 62 (2 in 62+), 10 finer (1/17).
