Liberty Double Eagles
1884-CC $20 AU53 NGC. CAC. By 1884, the Carson City economy was on the decline. The population totaled 4,000 people, roughly half of what it had been only four years earlier. The 1884-CC double eagle was, as Rusty Goe put it, a "last hurrah, of sorts" for the facility. Examples are among the most available Carson City twenties and suitable for type purposes. CAC has recognized this piece for its original, "dirty gold" surfaces. The hair strands and feathers are crisply delineated. Luminous and surprisingly smooth.
