Liberty Double Eagles
1893-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2-A. The 1893-CC Liberty double eagle was a well-made issue, from a small mintage of 18,402 pieces. Thankfully, the 1893-CC has a relatively high survival rate for a Carson City issue, especially in high grade. In addition to its high-grade availability, the 1893-CC was the last twenty dollar gold piece struck at the Carson City Mint, both important considerations for type purposes.
The present coin is an impressive near-Mint specimen, with well-detailed design elements that show just a trace of high-point wear. The vivid orange and rose-gold surfaces are lightly abraded, with the expected number of minor surface marks on both sides. Vibrant, frosty mint luster adds to the attractive overall presentation.
