F below bust, reverse is that of the larger unlisted medal by Meybusch with a French mortar shell exploding the Dutch powder magazine, inscribed TABAGUM EXPUGNATUM, Tobago Taken by Assault. A late die state of obverse 4 as enumerated in the John Adams offering, the letters J.M appearing to be squashed beneath the massive curl. Satiny chestnut-brown surfaces display a splash of steel toning at the lower obverse on this lovely Select Mint State medal. 41.3 mm, 38.9 grams. (Est. $700-$1,000).
