Betts-86. 1697 French Victory Medal. Bronze. MS63 Brown PCGS. The mature bust of King Louis XIV on the obverse was engraved by J. Mavger. The reverse shows an allegorical figure of Victory inscribing the names of French battle victories in North America, Flanders, and Spain. Reflective chestnut-brown obverse with satiny dark brown reverse, a few splashes of darker toning on each side. 41.3 mm, 29.0 grams. (Est. $700-$1,000).
