Betts-144. 1720 Founding of Louisbourg. Bronze. MS64 Brown PCGS. Although unsigned, this French medal featuring a young Louis XV (1710-1774) was likely accomplished by DuVivier, the talented French engraver. The Nova Scotia community was founded in 1713 and named for Louis XIV (1638-1715). This satiny Choice Mint State example has mahogany surfaces with traces of original mint color that outlines a few of the obverse letters. 41.7 mm, 38.2 grams. (Est. $1,500-$2,000).
