Betts Medals
Betts-417. 1759 Guadeloupe Surrenders. Silver. AU58 PCGS. The obverse depicts Britannia helping Guadeloupe to her feet while the reverse displays Victory. These medals were struck to commemorate the fall of the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, which was a stronghold for French privateers during the French and Indian Wars. Lightly cleaned with inconsequential hairlines, now delicately toned in peripheral gold. 39.7 mm, 22.9 grams. (Est. $3,000-$5,000).
