So-Called Dollars
1901 Medal Lesher Dollar -- Imprint Type, Boyd Park, #560 -- AU53 PCGS. Zerbe-10, HK-796, R.6. Boyd Park, the Denver merchant, reportedly issued about 150 of these Lesher dollars with his imprint. The 1900 Denver City Directory identifies Park as a watchmaker and jeweler whose office was in the Opera House located at the corner of 16th and Curtis at the present site of the Federal Reserve Bank building. Some records suggest that Park operated his business in Denver while living in Salt Lake City. Pleasing pale gold and iridescent toning appears on the still lustrous surfaces of this attractive example. (Est. $1,500-$2,500).
