Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-110a, T-21, R.3, VF20 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 4/2. A pair of curved, parallel die cracks on the obverse between RTY of LIBERTY and stars 10 and 11 are the most recognizable features of the O-110a variety. The 9 in the date is repunched on the left side of the upper loop. The reverse displays 9 berries left, 8 right, with two berries on the inside of the branch beneath each wing. This is a warm-gray example that has smooth wear on both sides but only light abrasions and marks. An uneven strike shows weak dentilation at the lower right-obverse, and at the corresponding upper-right reverse. The central elements are well-defined for the grade.
