Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, A Over E in STATES, O-113a, T-14, R.4, VF20 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 3/1. A lumplike die crack between the date and star 15 on the obverse joins the famous A over E in STATES on the reverse to confirm the die marriage, while a faint crack at the top of LIBERTY signifies the later die state of O-113a. Pleasing stone-gray toning with slate-gray overtones represent the original surfaces, which are surrounded by high rims and full dentils. The date and all other motifs are sharply defined for the VF20 grade.
