Reeded Edge Half Dollars
1836 50C Reeded Edge, GR-1, R.2 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Always in demand for its status as the first half dollar struck on the Mint's new steam press, the 1836 reeded edge issue has a reported mintage of just 1,200 pieces (although that quantity is likely understated given the number of circulated survivors). This example shows greenish-gray coloration along with a few light abrasions and hairlines, but the cleaning was subtle and solid AU details remain. Traces of mint luster add to the appeal despite the lack of a numeric grade.
