Seated Half Dollars
1840 50C Small Letters, WB-101, MS64 PCGS. Taupe-gray and gunmetal-blue toning blanket both sides of this Choice Uncirculated Small Letters half, with enough silver luster peeking though the patina for strong eye appeal. The fields are smooth and semireflective beneath the pleasing, original color. The strike is sharp but not full, with the star centers all present but not fully crisp. Only tiny marks are widely separated and random in their appearance, justifying the near-Gem grade. Any early Seated half in MS64 is notably scarce-to-rare. Population: 15 in 64 (1 in 64+), 14 finer (1/17).
