Barber Half Dollars
1898-S 50C MS63 PCGS. Sharply detailed in most areas, this attractive Select Uncirculated specimen shows just a touch of the usual softness on the shield point and adjacent area on the eagle's wing. The lustrous surfaces are lightly marked for the grade and display pleasing shades of lavender-gray and greenish-gold toning. All pre-1900 mintmarked Barber halves are scarce in Mint State, a condition compounded for the 1898-S by the export of some of the mintage to the Philippines. Population: 8 in 63, 28 finer (1/17).
