An attractive branch mint issue from the first year of the Walking Liberty design, this impressive Gem exhibits well-detailed design elements that show a touch of the usual softness on the head and wreath hand. The well-preserved surfaces display satiny mint luster under shades of lavender-gray and greenish-gold toning. The 1916-D is very scarce in finer grades.
