Walking Liberty Half Dollars
1929-D 50C MS66 NGC. A little more than 1 million 1929-D half dollars were originally produced, a somewhat limited mintage, yet the 1929-D is among the more readily obtainable branch mint halves from the 1920s in lesser Mint State grades. That said, the issue's dwindling certified population as one progresses up the grading scale confirms the condition rarity of this attractive Premium Gem. The overall sharp strike is apparent (despite some scratches on the previous generation holder) especially on Liberty's head and the eagle's leg plumage, as are the richly frosted and virtually abrasion-free surfaces. Delicate golden iridescence on both sides rounds out this coin's list of positive attributes. Take note: Just a single numerically finer coin exists at NGC and PCGS combined. NGC Census: 14 in 66, 0 finer (1/17).
