1799/8 $1 15 Stars Reverse, B-3, BB-141, R.3 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. XF. Bowers-Borckardt Die State III. The remnants of an undertype 8 show beneath the final digit in the date and the clouds on both ends have been enlarged to cover up the extra stars on the reverse, with just a couple of points still protruding, identifying the popular BB-141 overdate. Lightly worn and lightly abraded, the lavender-gray surfaces of this still-attractive specimen show an unnatural dullness, the effects of a light cleaning long ago.
