Early Dollars
1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-9, BB-166, R.1, XF40 ANACS. Die State V. A die crack connects the 1 to the rim, other cracks appear near stars 10 to 12, and a die break occurs after the final S in STATES. BB-166 is the most available variety among 1799 dollars, making this a collectible example for an early dollar type set. Deep charcoal-gray patina colors the recesses and peripheral areas, lightening over exposed motifs that retain pleasing detail. A small dig on the shield is noted for accuracy. Housed in a small-sized holder.
