Early Dollars
1803 $1 Large 3, B-6, BB-255, R.2, VF35 PCGS. Incorrectly identified by PCGS as a Small 3, the upper left serif of the digit 3 being absent on the true Small 3 variety. The obverse of this example has medium heather and blue toning, with light gold luster throughout the stars, date, and LIBERTY. Likewise, the reverse has considerable peripheral luster with golden-brown color, tending toward olive. The surfaces are lightly abraded as usual, although the toning tends to mask these marks.
