Proof Seated Dollars
1873 $1 PR63 PCGS. OC-P1. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. Only 600 proofs were struck of this final year of the type, but numerous pieces were preserved -- perhaps because they were then thought to be the "end of an era" (for silver dollars). This Select proof retains its original reflectivity that shines brightly through the pinkish-gray toning with areas of deep, reddish-brown patina seen over each side. Only a few delicate field lines determine the numeric grade. Population: 53 in 63, 51 finer (1/17).
