1878 8TF $1 Diagonal In 8, VAM-17, MS65 PCGS. A readily available variety, with LIBERTY doubled and slight doubling visible on the stars. A diagonal die chip in the lower loop of the 8 is diagnostic. The obverse is radiantly toned in luminescent shades of pink, orange, blue, and violet, while the reverse is two-toned in brilliant white and tangerine-orange. An overall sharp strike reveals a clean cheek and neck on Liberty and only a few inconsequential field marks for the assigned Gem grade.
