1859 P1C Indian Cent, Judd-228, Pollock-272, R.1, MS64 PCGS. A transitional pattern that combines the issued 1859 Indian Head cent obverse with the Shield Reverse first issued for commerce in 1860. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. Its inclusion in the Guide Book accounts, in part, for strong collector demand. This is a lovely tan-gold representative with an area of deeper amber-bronze color at the upper reverse. Minimally marked for the grade.
