Gold Dollars
1853-O G$1 MS64 NGC. Variety 1. Type One gold dollars were struck in great quantities at Philadelphia, to replace hoarded Seated silver. But mintages at New Orleans were much lower, and never exceeded 290,000 pieces. This well struck apricot-gold Choice example displays vibrant cartwheel luster. Marks are limited to a few wispy field lines above the hairbun.
