Gold Dollars
1858-D G$1 AU55 NGC. Variety 10-M. Another rare Dahlonega issue, since just 3,477 pieces were produced. A radiant sun-gold Choice AU representative with minimal actual wear. The clashed surfaces lack relevant marks, but show incompleteness of strike on Liberty's curls, the date, and the U in UNITED. Dahlonega struck gold dollars each year between the introduction of the denomination and the advent of the Civil War. Nonetheless, annual mintages never exceeded four figures.
