1840-C $2 1/2 AU50 NGC. The first Charlotte Liberty two and a half issue has a stingy mintage of 12,822 pieces. The present charming example offers many pockets of lemon-gold luster. The fields display hints of peach patina. Strike-throughs (as coined) are noted below the eagle's beak and near Liberty's chin and neck, but post-strike contact is only incidental.
