1888 $2 1/2 MS65 NGC. According to Mint records, 16,001 Liberty quarter eagles were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1888, a small total in absolute terms, but actually quite generous in the context of the series. This attractive Gem displays well-preserved peach-gold surfaces, with vibrant satiny mint luster and sharply detailed design elements. Eye appeal is terrific. Census: 29 in 65 (3 in 65+), 6 finer (12/16).
