Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1882 $3 MS61 NGC. As was the case with all three dollar gold issues from the period, the 1882 was produced in strictly limited quantities (just 1,500 coins). Both sides have semiprooflike tendencies, but not the glassy reflectivity and pronounced contrast that is sometimes found. Instead, frosty luster flows over rose-gold surfaces. The impression is bold and small marks are peppered uniformly throughout each side.
