Liberty Double Eagles
1873-S $20 Open 3 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Double eagle production was well-underway in 1873 by the time the new Open 3 dies reached the San Francisco Mint, so most S-mint examples of this date show the older Closed 3 design. This well-detailed near-Mint specimen shows an extensive network of die cracks in the reverse legend and the moderately abraded orange-gold surfaces retain traces of original mint luster.
