1877-CC $20 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Variety 1-A. The design of the double eagle was modified in 1877, with the denomination spelled out as DOLLARS on the reverse. This was the only major design change for gold coinage that took place during the years when the Carson City Mint was operational. This impressive specimen shows just a trace of wear on the sharply detailed design elements and the lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces retain considerable amounts of original mint luster, despite the noted cleaning.
